The service Brandon University provides to Western Manitoba is unique. As Canada’s finest regional university, we serve our community by creating and sharing knowledge with the country and the world, though research and teaching.

With some of the lowest class sizes in Canada, BU provides a personalized education not available anywhere else, offering unparalleled access to professors and undergraduate research opportunities.

Founded in 1899, Brandon University now boasts an average enrolment of 3,500 students in the faculties of Arts, Education, Health Studies and Science, as well as the School of Music. The university offers a full slate of undergraduate programs, master’s degrees in five areas, and a graduate diploma option, while remaining small enough to support a welcoming environment for all. Brandon University ensures a strong foundation for students who plan to pursue specialized education, with pre-professional programs in 19 areas, ranging from agriculture to veterinary medicine. BU is also an innovator. Programs such as Applied Disaster and Emergency Studies, Native Studies, the Master of Psychiatric Nursing program, and the IshKaabatens Waasa Gaa Inaabateg Department of Visual Art were among the first of their kind in Canada.

At BU, we believe that real-world experience complements quality education. With an extensive and growing Co-operative Education Program, plus practical experience built into other programs, nearly every BU student has the opportunity to include work-integrated learning in their university degree.

Brandon University invests greatly in support for our students, including comprehensive academic advising, individual career planning, personal counselling and robust accessibility services. The BU Indigenous Peoples’ Centre provides students with a culturally relevant place to relax and socialize on campus, while providing access to the wisdom of Elders and Knowledge Keepers. Brandon University has an active Student Leader program, with further student-led clubs and activities providing endless opportunities for enrichment.

The success of BU’s approach is shown in our alumni, with graduates playing important leadership roles in their communities. A survey of graduates has shown that 98 per cent of them would recommend Brandon University, while 93 per cent that they were prepared to excel in the workforce.

A jewel at the heart of Brandon, BU’s campus is a gathering place for the community, with dynamic architecture and public art set among an oasis of quiet green space. The Bobcats Athletics program has produced national-calibre teams in volleyball, basketball and soccer, while their home, the Healthy Living Centre, is open to the entire community and provides a modern and inviting place to exercise. BU’s renowned Music program entertains us with concerts by visiting professional musicians and the stars of tomorrow at our own student performances.

We hope you’ll be part of the BU community!
